OpenAI has announced a major upgrade to the free version of ChatGPT, giving users much more access without needing a paid subscription.

Free users are being upgraded to GPT-5.6 Luna, OpenAI’s newer model designed for fast everyday conversations.

Starting next week, free users will be able to use unlimited text chats, meaning you won’t hit the usual daily cap when using ChatGPT for standard text conversations.
