Earn up to £25 Free with Uswitch Power Hours

Uswitch is running a new “25 Hours of Free Electricity” campaign this November — and it’s open to anyone with a working smart meter and the Uswitch app.
Essentially, they’ll pay you up to £25 for using electricity during specific 5-hour windows on weekends throughout November. You’ll need to connect your smart meter and give them permission to track your half-hourly energy data, but it works with any energy supplier.
How It Works
Maximum payout: £25 in total (£5 per weekend, across 5 weekends).
Covers: Only your electricity usage cost — not standing charges.
The Catch
There are a few key things to be aware of before you sign up:
- You’ll be sharing 18 months’ worth of smart meter data.
Uswitch will access and store your half-hourly electricity usage for 18 months, sharing this with its partners to run the scheme. - You can’t be in another demand flexibility scheme.
If you’re already signed up with another provider (e.g. Octopus Saving Sessions or British Gas PeakSave), you’ll need to leave that before joining this one. - £25 is the total cap.
You won’t earn more than £25, regardless of your actual usage.
Our Verdict
This is essentially a £25 payment for your smart meter data— and for using electricity at specific times. If you’re not already part of a demand flexibility programme, and you don’t mind sharing your detailed energy data, then it’s an easy win. The setup takes only a few minutes, and the credit goes straight to your bank via the Uswitch app. If you’re already with Octopus, OVO, or British Gas for similar energy-saving schemes, this one won’t stack — so pick whichever you value more: data privacy or quick cash.
