Paying rent is usually one of the biggest expenses each month, but what if you could earn rewards every time you pay it?

Rentd is a rewards-focused debit card and app designed specifically for renters. It allows users to earn points on rent payments and everyday card spending, which can then be exchanged for gift cards, discounts and rewards from thousands of brands.

The idea is simple: your rent is already leaving your account every month, so Rentd aims to make that payment work harder for you by giving you points back.

What is Rentd?

Rentd is a cashback debit card designed around renters. Instead of paying rent through your normal bank account and receiving nothing back, Rentd allows you to pay your rent through the app and earn rewards points at the same time. The app also works as a normal spending card, allowing you to earn additional points on everyday purchases. According to Rentd, users can earn:

  • 1 point per £1 on rent payments
  • Points on everyday card spending‍ ‍Rewards redeemable across thousands of brands The company positions itself as a financial app built around renters, combining rent payments, spending insights and rewards into one platform.

How does Rentd work?

Getting started is straightforward:

  • Download the Rentd app
  • Create your account
  • Choose your Rentd card
  • Add money to your account
  • Pay rent through Rentd and start earning pointsOnce your account is active, you can use the app to manage payments, track spending and view your rewards balance.

Earn points from your rent 🏠

The main attraction of Rentd is turning your rent payment into a reward opportunity. Rent payments are made through the app using a normal bank transfer (BACS), meaning you can enter your landlord's details just like you would with a standard rent payment. This means you don't need your landlord to accept card payments. Every eligible rent payment can earn points, making your biggest monthly expense work harder for you.

Earn more points with the Rentd card 💳

You can also earn rewards by using the Rentd card for everyday spending. Use it for things like:

  • Supermarket shopping
  • Eating out
  • Travel
  • Everyday purchasesYour points can build up alongside your rent rewards. Rentd also offers different card tiers, depending on how much you spend.

🟢 Rentd Core (Free)

The entry-level option is ideal for most users.

You earn:

1 point per £1 on rent payments
1 point per £1 on card spending

Core requires a minimum spend of £500 per month to maintain the tier benefits.

🔵 Rentd Elite

The Elite tier is designed for users who spend more on their card.

You earn boosted rewards:

1% cashback on rent payments
2% cashback on everyday spending

Elite requires £1,000 monthly card spending to unlock the boosted spending rewards.

🟣 Rentd Zenith

The highest tier offers the biggest rewards for heavier spenders.

You earn:

1% cashback on rent payments
3% cashback on everyday spending

Zenith requires £3,000 monthly card spending to unlock the boosted spending rewards.

Do you lose your rewards if you don't hit the spending target?

No.

The spending requirements are only there to qualify for the boosted tier rewards.

If you choose Elite or Zenith but don't hit the monthly spend requirement, you simply won't receive the boosted points rate for that period — you can still use the card and earn the standard rewards.

This makes Rentd flexible because you are not locked into a paid subscription or punished for having a lower-spending month.

What can you redeem Rentd points for?

Once you have collected enough points, you can exchange them for rewards. Rentd says users can choose from thousands of reward partners, including:

  • Gift cards
  • Discounts
  • Money-off offers
  • Popular brands
  • Food and drink rewards
  • Travel rewardsRewards are managed directly through the Rentd app.

Rentd referral bonus 🎁

Rentd has changed the way its referral scheme works from 10 August 2026. You can still earn up to 5,000 Rentd points for each successful referral, but the points are now awarded in three stages rather than all at once:

  1. You’ll receive 1,500 points when the person you refer signs up through your unique referral link and completes onboarding and identity verification.
  2. You’ll then receive another 1,500 points when they make their first Rentd card transaction of at least £25.
  3. The final 2,000 points are awarded when the person you referred meets the minimum card-spend requirement for their membership tier within their first calendar month as a cardholder. This is £500 for Core members, £1,000 for Elite members and £3,000 for Zenith members.

This means you can earn 3,000 points once your referral has completed verification and made a £25+ card transaction, with the full 5,000-point referral bonus available if they also meet their tier's spending requirement.

Once you've signed up, you'll receive your own unique referral link to share with friends.

How much are Rentd points worth?

Rentd has recently changed the redemption value of its points. Previously, 5,000 Rentd points could be exchanged for a £50 gift card, but 5,000 points will now only get you a £25 gift card – effectively halving the value when redeemed this way.

This means the maximum 5,000-point referral bonus is now worth £25 in gift cards, rather than the £50 it was previously worth.

There are a range of gift cards available through Rentd. To find more places to spend your points, head to the Rewards section of the app and use the search bar to look for the retailer you want. Here’s a simple guide to illustrate the value:

  • 1,500 points = £7.50
  • 2,000 points = £10
  • 3,000 points = £15
  • 5,000 points = £25

Are there any fees?

Rentd offers free account options, with no monthly account fee for the Core card. Some potential charges can apply depending on how you fund your account, such as card processing fees for certain top-up methods. Examples:

  • Bank transfers: Free
  • Open Banking top ups: Free
  • Debit card top ups: 1.5%
  • Credit card top ups: 1.95%For normal use, using bank transfer or Open Banking should avoid these charges.
