Zopa - Get £20 paid into your account 💸
Free Money — Free Money — Zopa
Zopa is a UK digital bank offering current accounts, savings accounts, credit cards and loans. They've recently refreshed their refer-a-friend offer and, unusually, there are now three different ways to qualify for the bonus. You'll receive £20 paid directly into your Zopa account within 30 days of completing any one of the qualifying activities below.
To claim your £20 bonus:
Open a new Zopa current account using a referral link and complete the account setup.
Then choose one of the following options within 30 days (note you will need to select the corresponding link if you wish to complete that offer):
Option 1: Make 3 card transactions using your Zopa card. You can add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and complete these purchases immediately if you prefer not to wait for the physical card. Sign up here.
Option 2: Deposit £200 into your Zopa account. Sign up here.
Option 3: Set up 1 direct debit from your Zopa account. Sign up here.
Once you've completed any one of the above qualifying activities, £20 will be paid into your Zopa account within 30 days, which can then be withdrawn or spent as normal.
Will this impact my credit score? Here’s what Zopa (Biscuit) have to say - ‘When you apply for a Zopa bank account, we’ll run a soft search on your credit file to help verify your identity – but this doesn’t impact your credit score.’

FAQ’s
-
Zopa started in 2005 originally as a peer-to-peer lending service, connecting borrowers and individual lenders.
Over time, Zopa evolved: it is now a fully licensed digital bank rather than only a P2P platform.
Zopa describes itself as combining “the reliability of a high street bank with the ease of app‑based banking.”
-
Yes — Zopa is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
If you hold savings with Zopa, they are protected up to £85,000 under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
Their mobile‑app banking uses standard security measures (PIN, biometric login, optional extra verification) to protect account access.
-
Zopa does consider credit applications even if you’ve had credit struggles before. According to one card‑review source, if you’ve “struggled to get approved for credit elsewhere,” Zopa may still consider your application.
However, like most lenders, final approval will depend on a full credit check (a “hard search”) when you formally apply.
Zopa may be more flexible than some lenders, but “bad credit” does not guarantee approval, and how “bad” is defined likely matters.
-
The transition away from peer‑to‑peer (P2P) lending: Zopa closed its P2P-investment business in 2021, meaning those interested in investing via P2P can no longer do so.
With credit cards: although the card has useful features, the representative APR is quite high, making it potentially expensive if balances are not cleared monthly.
As with many digital‑only banks: no physical branches, so services like cash or cheque deposits are not available; everything is managed via the app. (This is also a limitation with their new current‑account product.)
-
Yes, Zopa has a refer a friend offer.
Right now, you can each earn £10 when you just sign up.
